5 REASONS TO RECEIVE A NUTRITIONAL INFUSION

5 REASONS TO RECEIVE A NUTRITIONAL INFUSION

1. Taking vitamins or supplements by mouth are not always effective.

When you take a pill by mouth it requires gastrointestinal tract absorption. There are many variables that affect this absorption and hence the bioavailability. Some inhibiting factors include caffeine, alcohol consumption, medications, and stress (Rowe, 2020). Additionally, if you suffer from digestive issues or disease, you may not have important micronutrients available. This is caused by malabsorption and includes celiac disease, pancreatic disease, lactose intolerance, and pernicious anemia (Johns Hopkins, 2021).

If the nutrient is absorbed through the G.I. tract it then has the risk of being filtered out by a first pass of the liver. First pass effect, also known as first-pass metabolism is the term used for hepatic metabolism of drug when absorbed (Talevi et al. 2018). The liver receives the majority of the initial blood flow from the G.I. tract and can metabolize the nutrient making it far less available to the rest of the body.

We can help with these problems at Palomar KLN. We are able to start a small intravenous catheter and infuse micronutrients directly into the blood steam. This bypasses the G.I. tract and the 1st pass metabolism. The result is 100% bioavailability.

2. Our diets are not always nutritious.

Our diets are not always nutritious

The vast majority of Americans do not follow a healthy eating pattern. Together with physical inactivity, eating an energy-rich, nutrient-poor diet predisposes many to chronic disease (Drake, 2018). This includes diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer to name a few (Drake, 2018). About 75% of the US population (ages ≥1 year) do not consume the recommended intake of fruit, and more than 80% do not consume the recommended intake of vegetables (Drake, 2018).

At Palomar KLN we do not claim to be able to replace your diet but we can improve your nutritional status. We have infusions that can optimize the body for energy, weight loss, boost immunity, and promote overall wellness. At a time when many Americans do not or can not supply their body with the appropriate level of micronutrients, infusion therapy can really help.

3. We can customize infusions to meet your body's needs

We can customize infusions to meet your body's needs

Did you know that micronutrients and antioxidants are measurable? Well, they actually are and we can order those labs for you. At Palomar KLN, we recommend the NutrEval lab. This lab result evaluates over 125 biomarkers and assesses the body's functional need for 40 antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, digestive support, and more (Genova, 2021). It even goes as far as recommending the appropriate replacement with an algorithm based on the results. We believe in giving you what you need. This is far more effective than blindly taking pills that may or may not be absorbed through oral intake.

4. Aging affects our body’s defenses

Aging affects our body’s defenses

As we age, our bodies ability to fight off chronic disease typically changes. There has been a lot of research on this but one main factor is the anti-oxidant glutathione. Some have called glutathione the "master" anti-oxidant as it is associated with anti-aging. This molecule plays pivotal roles in medication metabolism, detoxification, and protecting cells against oxidative stress-induced cellular damage. With age, however, there is a significant reduction in the body’s ability to synthesize glutathione and this decreased synthesis is associated with an increase in oxidative stress (Sekhar et al, 2011). One study showed that 36% of individuals admitted to the hospital with chronic disease (cardiovascular, liver, diabetes) had low levels (Lang, 2000).

To add insult to injury, glutathione taken orally is ineffective. There are supplements to help increase the production of glutathione in the body but the most effective way to boost your levels is with infusion therapy. This will help promote your body's defenses and help prevent cell death. But that's not all, glutathione has been studied and promoted for Parkinson's, skin issues, COPD, peripheral arterial disease, and diabetes. Here at Palomar KLN, we can start a small IV and boost your level in 5-10 minutes.

5. Immediate Hydration

Immediate Hydration

We all know how it feels to be dehydrated. Lethargy sets in, we are sluggish, and just feel sick. This can present after strenuous physical activity, excessive alcohol consumption, different disease states, and with the flu. Oral hydration takes a long time before we start to feel better.

On the other hand infusion therapy is significantly more effective. With a simple IV, we can administer immediate hydration directly into the blood stream. We can even add anti-inflammatory meds and anti-nausea meds. The combination provides immediate relief and puts the body on the fast track to recovery.

Summary

There are so many benefits to infusion therapy that we could go on all day and then some. I hope this provides an overview of some of the benefits. Please contact us if you want to schedule an infusion or even if you just have questions. We are available as always at https://www.palomarkln.com , palomarkln@gmail.com , and 909-276-5125.
